Top 10 most in demand skills on LinkedIn for 2023
LinkedIn recently published an extensive list of the skills most sought by employers when recruiting and posting jobs on their platform. This list is based on a study conducted between April and October 2022. The data was collected from all job offers posted on the platform as well as on the employers main posts. The list includes general skills (i.e. actionable on any type of market) but also expertise (i.e. usable in specific sectors). Even though the overall job change rate of LinkedIn members is plateauing for the first time since March 2021, it’s still relevant to keep up to date with the hottest skills in order to achieve your own career goals in 2023!
Unsurprisingly, in the ranking of the ten most in-demand skills, IT comes out on top occupying 50% of the first places. In the podium, we can find software development, but also data management skills. Having employees who master SQL (2nd in the list) allows companies to make sense of different data across the enterprise. Other IT skills in the top 10 include different programming languages. Python and Java in particular, which are both in the top 5.
Finally, we can see Cloud Computing occupying the 7th place in the ranking. Technological skills are becoming crucial for the proper functioning of companies and are therefore naturally the most sought after on the labor market. Regardless of the industry or sector, these skills remain at the heart of employers’ expectations. According to LinkedIn, the skill set for jobs has changed by around 25% since 2015. It remains to be seen how much this change will accelerate in the coming years.
